On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 2pm-5pm PST, I open up the studio and share the creative process with the public, on Youtube . During these "open studio" hours, you will catch me working in the studio, mostly painting, but I have also done pattern-making and sewing on live stream also. There is an open chatroom, where viewers can ask questions about the current project and engage with me or each other. The flow of the conversation is easygoing and open. We often talk about the creative process, what supports it, what blocks it, and how to grow and blossom as an artist.
It has been a real challenge and joy to include live streaming as part of the studio practice. When I was first enticed to open the studio in this way to the public, I was terrified and sick with anxiety. I felt that people would judge me, reject me, and think I am foolish. How would I work under such scrutiny?
After getting set up, and finally working up the courage to go live, I was immediately hooked after the first session. I felt a sense of deep connection with other artists and art-lovers from all over the world, in a way that no other form of social media has ever achieved for me. Within the first week, I knew that live streaming would become an integral part of my creative life.
As the community of viewers grows, live streaming continues to get more exciting and fulfilling for me. I feel that my community has pushed me to become a more authentic, honest, and prolific artist. My viewers keep me accountable to my schedule, and I show up and engage in the creative process no matter how bleak the day feels. And in turn, I inspire my community to engage in their art form of choice. We support each other, we discuss blockages and difficulties, and we keep each other making better and better art. The personal and creative growth I have experienced as a streamer has been nothing short of spectacular, and I am forever grateful.
We would love to see you in my twitch channel! Simply follow the URL, and I will be live in the studio during the set schedule. You can "lurk," meaning you watch the stream but do not participate in the chat room. If you feel like interacting with us, introduce yourself in the chatroom, and you will be welcome into the family!
